We live in a condo and are away for two weeks. We got a call today as we are mid travel from our downstairs neighbor that his kitchen ceiling is wet. The mamagement told him that there is no dripping water and that it can wait.

I had a friend come in today to check whats going on because obviously there was no leak when we left few days ago. He said that there is nothing leaking from our pipes inside the cabinet but the back of our cabinet is wet. The pipe that goes inside the wall is not wet. There are also dry water spots on the floor all around our kitchen floor. If there is an active leak, wouldn’t there be water spots everywhere? Wouldn’t there be drops of water on the pipe that goes inside the wall?
Could there be a water leak coming from our upstairs neighbor? Our friend is leaving tomorrow morning and we would hate to cut our trip short to rush back.

There is a lot going on under the sink, and it may be a supply leak or a drain leak, you really need someone there to investigate.

However, usually in a condo each unit has its own water shutoff to the entire unit. Have your friend turn the main valve off so even if there is a leak it will not continue doing so until you get back.

If it's your upstairs neighbor leaking, most likely you will see water stains on your wall and ceiling. A leak can happen to the pipes inside the wall cavity and drips to the bottom of the wall and seep below.
