 Shower leak behind wall
Author: Dsarvis1! (SC)

I have a leak behind the wall of the shower that appears to be coming from the valves. I say valve as this leak only occurs when the water is turned on. Can a bad valve or valve seat leak from the rear? I used an endoscope to tale a peak and can see dripping from around the back side of the valve. Can’t get a real clear picture to pinpoint the exact location. Or is there another scenario someone has experienced? Thanks

More likely a leak in the showerhead piping than out the back of the valve.

Steve's right, the water far more likely to be leaking from the shower head, the fittings up near the shower head, or the pipe to the shower head than from the valve. It is difficult to see water flowing down that pipe to the valve.

What is on the other side of the wall from the shower? If it's drywall, that's much easier to get through than tile.
