I have a 60 year old furnace/AC/humidifier. Apparently, the solenoid was stuck on causing the humidifier to continuously spray water, filling the tray, leaking and rusting. It will be replaced. In the meantime, is there a way to stop it from leaking? The water is dripping from a duct in the attic as well as from the evaporative coil(?) above the furnace. I closed the shut off valve, but it is still leaking. Someone said the water is leaking from the tank. Where is the tank?

There is no tank. He might have been referring to the tray under the humidifier element. You need to get the shutoff valve repaired ASAP.

At the very least, disconnect the line from the shut-off valve and cap off the valve with a 1/4 in compression cap.
