I have a rear-discharge toilet. It has begun to drain slowly. It mounts into a flange that drains the bathtub and clothes washer that join, in a T, about 8 inches past the flange. They drain well; I suspect washing clothes flushes eveything past the T well. I can plunge it easily, but I'd rather not so often. An auger loosens a black scale that's beyond what I can see. I use a Fernco FTS-3 toilet seal. I'd like a brush that would work on the scale without damaging the porcelain - do you know of one? If I have to use a chemical, what would work? Only poop, piss, and toilet paper go in the toilet, no wipes, etc.

I use muriatic acid (commercial grade hydrochloric acid, available in the pool supply aisle of Big Box) to clean out mineral deposits clogging the siphon jets. It works very well and has restored proper flushing to many of my customers' toilets.
I pour warm water into the toilet, add acid and let sit for a half hour.

Thanks. My toilet, a Crane Flormont Elite 3921E, doesn't have a siphon jet.
