Have you ever plumbed a ship?
Author: ArthurPeabody (NM)

I heard a story on the news about the USS Gerald Ford, the aircraft carrier deployed in the Caribbean. Its toilets are leaking and backed up, allegedly due to improper plumbing. The story mentioned finding a t-shirt in the drain, so there may be carelessness too. They use vacuum flush.

With 4,000 crew on board between officers, sailors, and airmen, that's a complex plumbing layout with plenty of room for stuff to malfunction. I wouldn't be surprised if they had some maintenance crew designated and specifically trained as plumbers.

I heard a profile of life on an aircraft carrier. 2 people had the full-time job of keeping the vending machines stocked.
