No change with retrofit Watts recirc pump
Author: samleemd (CA)

Was taking 2 1/2 min to get slightly hot water at kitchen faucet. Same with bath above the kitchen. Gas WH located in garage, about 4 months old, but unclear of piping schematics (loops/branches). Installed Watts recirc pump (retrofit) accurately per directions, installed crossover valve at kitchen sink (thought to be the farthest in line from the WH based on time it takes to get warm). Installation of everything was unremarkable and crossover valve test confirmed it was sensing temp and closed at right temp, but still took 2 1/2 min for the valve to close to cold water side. Confirmed pump was running well (was warm, humming slightly and outlet hose was same
Temp). Let pump run for 10 minutes before checking the crossover valve.
After all that, still takes 2 1/2 min to get slightly hot water at the kitchen faucet, so nothing changed. I assume there are branches to baths above because they had cold water run for about 45 seconds even when there was hot water at the kitchen. How do I get hot water to the kitchen faucet faster? Don’t need it faster at baths/anywhere else. Why didn’t the install change anything? Any guidance would be appreciated. Any advice appreciated.

you need a helper for this..
stand at the water heater. have a helper in the farthest bathroom.
hold your hands on the hot outlet and cold inlet,
have the helper turn on the hot water faucet.
you should feel the hot pipe get hot immediatly
the cold will take a few seconds but it will get somewhat colder,
if those are the results then thimgs at the heater are working OK but there is a crossover somewhere.
