So I discovered that I am missing a section on the top of my clay sewer line. It's probably 3"W x 5"L - no clue how long it's been like this. I know I will need to get it replaced (probably the entire line replaced), but my question is how quickly should I get this handled? Is this a now thing or can it wait 6 months?

how deep is the pipe there?
are these roots invading the pipe?
question is with this big a hole what happened to the broken off pieces did they drop into the hole and traveled down the line? there will be dirt collapsing into the line repeatedly i bet.

Pipe is 4 feet down. That section with the missing piece on the top is under the edge of my driveway away from trees. The line is fairly clean and intact otherwise. No real root problem. I have no idea when that section fell off - no sign of it in the line after 3 inspections. My guess is it came off a long time ago.
