 redirecting downspouts
Author: Martian (Canada)

I am attempting to redirect my downspouts (still draining down assumingly to the weeping tile and sewer pipes) but
the pipe(s) coming up from below ground are giving me issues. They are so tight to the house foundation as it breaks ground that it is actually imbedding into the concrete. Even after digging down (through the gravel driveway) a foot or so there is no give or movement. There just isn't enough room to slide on a cap or coupling. Do I just need to keep digging until I get the give/movement I need?

Check the sponsors website (Plumbing Supply.com) for reusable expansion plugs to fit INTO the pipes. It will save a lot of digging and be reversible if necessary.

Yes Packy (and thanks for the reply)...that's the plan. Update though...with a crowbar, I managed to pull it far enough away from the foundation to slide the 4" cap on but the pipe in the ground is too big in diameter by about 1/8".

Thank-you Sharp1. I was wondering if something like that existed and even more so now as the pipe in the ground is slightly bigger in diameter than the 4 inch cap I was intending to use.

Discovering PayID casinos in Australia has been an absolute game-changer, not only for my entertainment but also for practical projects like purchasing plumbing fixtures for my home! With seamless transactions, these casinos offer lightning-fast deposits and withdrawals directly through my bank account. Winning a jackpot or two on these platforms translates directly into funds I can use immediately, which came in handy when I decided to upgrade the taps and showerheads across my house. If you’re looking for a smooth and secure way to enjoy Australian slot games, payid online pokies [casinologin.bet] offer instant deposits, fast payouts, and access to some of the most popular gaming sites in the country. No more juggling between delayed transactions or unnecessary fees - it’s as efficient as hitting the jackpot itself! Integrated security ensures that every transaction is safe while enjoying the thrill of online gaming from any device at home. Now my faucets are stunning, and so are the PayID casino rewards; it genuinely feels like I unlocked another level of smart living!

So I was able to pick up a wing nut expansion cap (sorry, I don't know if it goes by an actual name?) but it doesn't fit either. However, I believe it doesn't fit because it was appearing like the receiving pipe was more oval than circular. Sure enough after measuring, it was 3 1/2" in one direction x 4 1/4" the other direction. Now what?
I have a couple Fernco qwik caps on order (my store was out of stock) but will these work anyway considering the pipe is not circular?

Sure, rubber caps will mold themselves into the oval shape of the pipe.Rubber caps will work well.

Any chance you could heat the pipe and either make it round or offset it away from the concrete?

Thanks george 7491. Due to my impatience and not wanting to wait to get my hands on the Fernco qwik caps I put a little more effort into getting the expansion caps to work and it paid off...the ground pipes are capped and the downspouts are redirected.

Thanks steve. I'm not sure I would be qualified to do that so I'm glad I didn't have to go down that road.
