 Cleanout high up there
Author: sum (FL)

At the Fort Lauderdale airport they have drain that runs on the underside of the departure deck and these drains have cleanouts 30' up there.

Are these cleanouts ever used? Do drain cleaning techs climb up there and operate a machine to clear blockages if needed?

Those cleanouts are not meant for the main line, so a machine is not going to use those cleanouts. The cleanouts could be used to remove, by hand, any object, like a steel rod, which ends up there.

The main line must have its own full size cleanout somewhere.

ok so they don't need spiderman to swing up there with a machine.

MA code says a cleanout at the base of every stack. so we sometimes have to put cleanouts where they are hard to get at.

I’ve opened quite a few clean outs from height… better than making a mess in the unit
