Short pipe stub from wall - how to install new T
Author: orggardn (TN)

I am getting someone to install a new kitchen faucet. The valve for the hot water supply no longer works (I have to cut off the main at the street to work on the kitchen faucet). I am going to have the valve replaced when the sink is installed..

Looking at my current setup, I don't see how he is going to be able to connect a new T.

How can he install the new T? What parts do I need to have ready for him?

NOTE: the sink supply line is the one nearest the camera. The other one is for the dishwasher.

you shouldn't have to shut the water at the street to work on the hot water.
there should be a functioning valve at the water heater inlet.
while the plumber is there have one installed.

as to your question...

once the faucet is removed there will be all kinds of play in the undersink piping.

btw, there is no picture in your post.

Your first post The dishwasher valve is a compression valve and readily replaceable. The sink valve looks like it might be soldered on. If the valve is soldered, unsolder the stub attached to that valve from the tee and solder in a new stub for a compression valve(or male adapter for a threaded valve).

Brasscraft valve stems are easily replaceable, so that is what I would try first. Unscrew the sink valve stem, clean up as much as possible and thread in a new stem after a liberal application of grease. That might be all that needs to be done.
