Whole house chlorine removal water filter system
Author: MES (PA)

I use a filter on my shower head. I could eliminate the filter on my shower head, if I purchase a whole house chlorine water filter system using activated carbon filtration technology. I don't know what brand and model is good and ones to stay away from. Does anyone know a good brand and model? Thanks.

i always recommend sending a sample of your water to a testing lab.

they will tell you whats in it and what should be removed

might be just chlorine or there might be something else ???

Absolutely get the water quality tests Packy recommends. Just so you know, the tests will cost about the same as a few months of filter cartridges for a whole-house filter. If you don't replace your filters regularly, your water quality will degrade rapidly, so you are committing yourself to a long-term expenditure.

There is more chlorine in my water than there used to be. I can smell it as soon as I turn my water on. I was looking good filter system that would remove it. I think my water softener would be more effecient, as well. Where would I go to get it tested?

I took a water sample to a lab in the area. I explained my situation and below is what he said I should test with the results.

Chlorine, Free 0.09 mg/L

Hardness 54 mg/L

Iron 0.06 mg/L PASS

pH 7.79 PASS
