 Temporary Washer Hook up
Author: Lee (NJ)

Guys,

Tired of going to the Laundry Mat to wash clothes I have my washing machine that has been sitting unused in the garage for a long time. Anyway I want to bring the washing machine temporarily to the basement. I am thinking of having it drain to a sink. My buddy gave me a stainless steel sink that is not hooked up at all. I was thinking of having the washer machine drain into the stainless steel sink then put a pump of some-kind into the sink and having the pump, pump out the water to the drain that is pictured. This is only temporary.

Question : how do I connect the the pumps discharge hose to the PVC drain ? I realize I need to be concerned with sewer gases.

My guess is some-kind of one way check valve into that PVC ?

Your help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Worst case scenario you can utilize the clean out and install a p trap for your pump
Or if low enough you don’t need a separate pump or sink

Thanks for your help.
I am unable to get close to the wall/that clean out. So I will need to empty into a sink and pump over to the cleanout. I guess my question to clarify is : I need to install a P Trap at that clean out pictured ?
