 Backflow preventer valve for Steam generator
Author: Mark1955 (FL)

Good afternoon one and all! I purchased a residential steam generator from Delta Faucet for my master bath that I'm turning into a steam shower. The Florida Pasco county inspector came out and told me I needed to have a backflow preventer valve on the 3/8 inch waterline leading to the steam generator. I contacted the manufacturer and they said that it's not required because this is a non-pressurized atmospheric producing system. It has its own pressure relief valve built in and water flow to the system is controlled by an electronic solenoid.
Model:
SimpleSteamâ„¢ Generator - 10kW
MODEL#: EP103326

I am basically spinning my wheels and I need some help and direction. If I do need to install a backflow preventer valve, please let me know and if you could send me a picture or a link to one that would be greatly appreciated. If I don't need one please let me know and why.

Respectfully;
Mark K.

Strictly speaking of just backflow prevention in my experience it’s best to just give the inspector what he wants, backflow is dictated by the local and asse codes not the manufacturer of a steam unit
A dual check valve is relatively cheap and easily installed

Agree with Bsipps.

Looked at spec sheet and if electric water probe fails you will have cross connection - need backflow.

Also water feed is at or below water level...no air gap - need backflow.

End of the day it is what the inspector wants.....
