Tub spout removal (DELTA may be)
Author: sum (FL)

I have a bath tub spout where the diverter went bad, only diverts some water up to the shower the rest still come out of the spout so I want to remove the spout for a replacement.

Usually it is either a screw connection or a slip connection and a slip connection would have a hole or a notch at the bottom for a set screw to be loosened. I have previously done both but only at properties with copper/piping, but this property has CPVC piping so I want to make sure.

How are the shower and tub connections mounted when supply piping is CPVC? If it's a screw connection they had to have transitioned to a brass drop ear elbow right? I can't imagine tightening a tub spout or a shower arm onto a CPVC female or male threaded connection behind the wall. If it's a slip connection may be they have just a 90 elbow and continue with a piece of CPVC for the spout connection?

This is a Delta fixture.

I see a notch on the underside of the spout, but I do not see a set screw. But it is possible I think for the metal "shell" of the spout to be rotated off the set screw position, there is a plastic tab at the notch leading me to think this is a slip connection as a screw connection would most likely be hollow except the nipple in the middle right?

I am trying to decide if I should rotate the spout counterclockwise or try to find the set screw somehow.

Curly, thank you, I removed it. It was threaded onto a brass adapter that was threaded onto a copper male adapter.
