Can I divert them toward the wall before the traps?
I need advice. I have a double kitchen sink.
Currently the left sink drain drops straight down a few inches, then angles 90 degrees to the right to meet up with the right sink drain. The combined pipe then goes into the trap. The trap's outflow angles 45-degrees back toward the wall, where it meets a tee. Above the tee is the air admittance valve, and below it is the main drain leaving the house.
The problem is that the space under the double sinks is disrupted by all of these pipes being in the way. If I could move them back toward the wall, I would have space for a small shelf for cleaning needs, or I could hang pots and pans from hooks.
What I need to know is this: can I put a 45-degree connector a couple of inches beneath each sink drain to aim the pipes toward the wall, then put a 90-degree in the left drainpipe to send it toward the right drainpipe like normal, to make space under the sinks.
If the addition of the 45s presents a fear of clogging because of additional turns, I could use a cleanout wye instead of a 45.
