I have a Delta single handle faucet that is less than a year old. When I turn the water on, the faucet makes a thumping sound and water flow has a quick interruption. It isn't water hammer. The problem gets progressively worse as time goes on, it got so bad in the delta faucet we had that I replaced it. Now the same problem has started again with the new faucet. What could be causing it and how do I fix it?

What model faucet is it? Does it have a separate pull out sprayer that is separate from the spout? Do you know if the angle stops are ball valve type or have washers? Does this act up on hot and cold or just one of them?

I dont remember the model number but it could be either 10920LF or 10901LF. It does have a separate pull out sprayer. I don't know know if the angle stops are ball or washer style. The problem happens on either hot or cold and regardless of water flow rate.

My guess is a problem with the diverter. The diverter is a valve that shuts off the flow of water to the spout when the sprayer is used. It is located in the barrel section of the spout.

I'll take a look at that. The strange thing is that when using the sprayer, there is no thumping noise and no irregular water flow.
Thank you for your help.
