Moen faucet - replaced cartridge - no flow
Author: mamurphy (VA)

My single lever Moen bathroom sink faucet (Chateau model) was leaking so I replaced the 1225 cartridge, which I have done before. I now have no flow. To troubleshoot, I've done the following with no success:

-verified supply lines are open, cycled isolation valves multiple times
-slightly cracked open isolation valves with cartridge removed to verify that there was some flow
-returned the cartridge and installed another new one
-checked the cavity as best I could with a flashlight, paper towels, and probes - nothing obvious
-rotated the cartridge 180 degrees
-rotated the stem multiple times, cycled the stem in and out multiple times

I read that there is a pressure balancing piston that I should be able to hear moving when I shake the cartridge. I could not hear anything on either of the two new cartridges that I tried but it seems odd that they would both be bad. I'm assuming that I misunderstood this in some way.

I'm finding this to be very perplexing. Hopefully someone has an idea how to proceed. Thanks

Mark

Bingo! The aerator screen was clogged. I feel dumb forgetting about the screen but smart for asking the right person. Thank you for your help!
