I have a two-yr-old house with four Gerber toilets. Not one, not two, but THREE malfunctioned right around the same time. When you try to flush, nothing happens. Then you have to push down on this part:

After doing so, the flush is strong, but it gets weaker with every subsequent flush until it stops flushing again. What could be wrong? Is this something I could DIY (with little plumbing knowledge), or is it strictly plumber only? Thanks!

Replace the fill valves with a Fluidmaster 400A. Very easy to replace.

While the 400A will work, it could lead to wasted water. The toilets, being just two years old, are water saving toilets. The Fluidmaster 400ARHR or the Korky Platinums are adjustable for bowl fill and lets you fine tune the bowl fill for least water wastage.
