I am a new homeowner trying to fix an old single-handle bathtub knob. The handle rotation is squeaky and the water flow is strange. I thought this would be a simple cartridge replacement until I opened it up to find what was in the picture. I could not figure out how I could take things further... Do I need to hire a plumber to replace the whole valve and pipe? or is there a way to replace the cartridge to get back to the ordinary operation?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Ah! This is wonderful. Thank you so much. I found the instruction manual for this model online. I will try to see if a replacement part will fix it.
