 Crane Toilet Flapper
Author: toofrab58 (GA)

I need some help. I have a Crane toilet , tank # 7751. Its appox 14-15 yrs old. My flapper leaks & I'm have trouble replacing it. I bought a Korky from Home Depot but it seems to sit just a little too far forward & it leaks, I took it back. The flapper that I need to replace is made by EDI. I called them & didnt really get much help other than to get on plumbingsupply.com & I should be able to find what I need. That was not quite the case. I found what looked my flapper but it didnt give me the 7751 model to match it to. plumbingsupply.com told me to try this forum for help. Any sugestions would be appreciated

I wanted to post pictures but I dont know how. Help on this would be appreciated as well

Upload your pictures to a hosting site, such as postimage.io and either provide us here with a link to the uploaded photos or post the link using BBCode. If you look at the bottom of the page that you post from, there are instructions for BBCode to "link to another site".

Thanks for your reply Steve. Posting the pictures is a bit above my technical ability. I tried another 2" flapper last night and it leaks as well. I think I'm now at the point of just replacing the entire flush valve. I believe the flapper seat must be worn & not letting the flapper seal off.
Would you have any suggestions on a flush valve replacement

I have a Crane a few years older, a different model, have no problem using the flapper valves sold for general use. You can figure out whether the seat has corroded by feel. I've never had that happen. More likely hard water would deposit enough scale to make it seal poorly.
