 Kitchen faucet recommendations please…
Author: RichRock (FL)

Hello all,

I’m seeking recommendations on a stainless steel kitchen faucet similar to this with a pull out spout. Most that I’ve looked at either have a plastic spout and/or plastic connectors on the interface between the handle and the part of the faucet that holds the handle in place, which per several reviews, wears out within a short period of time causing the spout/sprayer handle to sag down.

I appreciate your feedback.

Unfortunately most pull down type faucets use many plastic parts

I would suggest a name brand faucet preferably with a lifetime warranty to the original owner

We are not necessarily encouraged to name specific brands

What about the more popular drop-down type faucets?

At the risk of being discouraged, which “name brands” offer a lifetime warranty?

I have found moen and delta customer service on warranty issues to be excellent

I will add Kohler. For me they have had good customer service.

Hansgrohe makes some nice kitchen faucets but their customer service is TERRIBLE !

A lot of the manufactures are using anodized aluminum for the main mounting shaft/post. I brush pipe joint compound on it to make it easier to remove faucet later down the road.

Moen uses the anodized aluminium shafts and I really haven't had issues undoing the (13/16in hex) nuts.

It really is a blessing that manufacturers have shifted to mounting nuts with screws threaded into them for tightening the faucet down. I don't miss trying to undo corroded nuts in very tight quarters.

I don't like to use a basin wrench so I always get faucets with the two or three bolt mounting instead of a big center nut.

Got it; Moen, Delta and Kohler; I’m definitely familiar with those brands. I have to admit, it’s been an adventure shopping for kitchen faucets. Best sellers at [www.amazon.com] are brands I’ve never heard of selling tens of thousands of units I.e. OWOFAN (30,488), FORIOUS (18,233), & WEWE (49,320) with 4.6, 4.5 & 4.7 star ratings, respectively. thinking

That said, Does anyone have experience with and/or knowledge to share about Kraus?

@george, @sum, I get what you’re saying about mounting nuts, but I’m having an issue removing my old faucet because the threads that the mounting nut is screwed onto are rusty and chipping away, so I can’t get it to turn, when I try to unscrew it…Any suggestions?

If faucet is loose enough, cut it from the top with a Sawzall. Most likely will need somebody to pull up on the faucet and hold it in place while you cut it. Also protect the sink so the Sawzall does not scratch sink etc.

OR

You can try and cut a slot into mounting ring/nut (with the 3 screws) with a Dremel type tool with abrasive cutoff wheel and then spread it with a screwdriver. Wear safety glasses etc. Can be a tight area to work in.

If you can't get the Dremel in there because threaded tube is in the way. Then you cut off the tube and then you can usually get the Dremel in there to cut the mounting ring.

Never heard of those brands. My guess no customer service.

Kraus is owned by Masco who owns Delta and many others brands.

I've installed 1 Kraus kitchen faucet for one of my customers. Pull out spray head fell apart after 11 months. As a "courtesy" they sent me a free replacement head after I pushed for it. Couple years later same kitchen was being remodeled and tried to save the faucet to use in a laundry room....all corroded and could not get it apart. Never again.

Thanks @Curly…Now it’s more than loose…After my last attempt to tighten it, it appears to have broken off from the threaded mounting piece. Actually, I’m not really sure how that threaded mounting piece is still in place where it was before the two pieces separated. thinking

That said, I’m not really concerned about damaging the sink because it’s rusting out all along the edges as well and I picked up a used single stainless steel one to replace it with, but I’ll save that for another post. wink

As for those AMZN brands that both you and I have never heard of, it’s probably a price point thing, as they’re currently selling for $49.88, $35.40 & $65.51, respectively.

So, if Masco owns both Kraus & Delta, and you’re a “never again” on Kraus, what are your thoughts on Delta?

Richrock,

I love that style, but that plastic joint just above the number 4 in your image breaks constantly. After trying Moen and Kohler faucets, and installing multiple warranty replacements for both, I gave up and purchased the style below instead. Not for everyone.
