Are there plugs, either rubber or plastic, that fit the oblong mounting holes of a toilet? The schematic says they're ½ × 1 inch.

Curious, are toilet mounting hole sizes and shapes more or less up universal or do different brands and models unique?

i don't think toilet manufacturers fuss too much about the holes in the bowl base.
anybody who cares about their appearance, covers them with the domed shape cap and anyone who doesn't care, doesn't cover the holes.
i'm still amazed that anyone would make rubber plugs for toilet bowl floor holes ???

These are just general purpose oval plugs, not made specifically for toilets.

But how would one plug these into a toilet mounting hole once installed because there is a washer wider than the hole where the nut secured against? Would it not just sit loosely over the bolts?

I don't know why the OP wants to "plug" the mounting hole, but I'm guessing the toilet wasn't going to be using the mounting holes.

i haven't seen one in years but the older toilets that had 4 mounting holes had the two where the toilet outlet was that were oval and two towards the front that were round.

That was my thought also, that he was using a four hole bowl with only the rear mounting holes. All the forward holes I've seen were round and not oval.

Yes. Thanks. Those look perfect. I downloaded the catalogue. They don't have any my size. They're for furniture. Perhaps I can make a larger fit, or silicone in a smaller.
I have a rear-discharge floor-mount toilet (Crane Flormont Elite) that I can't attach to the floor. The previous installation didn't, was no problem for 20 years; I didn't notice until I remodeled. I haven't had a problem with it now, but I want to plug the holes rather than glue covers over them. The previous installation had caps glued to cover the holes. All 4 holes are oblong, the same shape. I notice both you and these guys use 'oval' when you mean 'oblong'.
