My wife and I are redoing our bathroom (was really dated) As part of the renovation we completely removed a whirlpool bath which was never used. This left the vent pipe sticking out of the floor and I need to get rid of that. As far as I can tell, this vent was only used for the whirlpool bath. Can I just disconnect it?

If you need it will depend on how the underfloor piping is run. You might be able to wet vent the tub and eliminate that vent.

You still need to see(if you don't already know) if the vent was used only for the tub.

Right cut the subfloor in multiple spots if need be and visually inspect the piping orientation
Or drill a hole through the last joist and reconnect it in the wall

What is under the plywood subfloor? Basement? Any way to see the piping under and how it's all connected?
What is above? Does this vent pipe go straight up through the roof? Anything else tied into it in the attic or in the wall cavity higher up? Does it make a turn and connect to other pipes higher up?

PERFECT it is 'probably' a loop or wet vent
