 new shower valve install
Author: retrofititguy (TX)

Hello All,
Recently installed pex to replace pvc in simple garage apt. Wanted to test for leaks when done, but do not have water heater yet. I tied cold line going into heater, into what would be hot water feed. water in all lines, but no water flow from hot tap, but cold and diverter work fine. Expected cold water from hot side, also. Is there a temp or pressure device built in ? Is it the joining both lines? Have'nt removed any stems, installed as bought. Defective valve? Price-fister 01-31XA unit. Appreciate any help, thanks

the way you piped the cold feed into the hot supply should work just fine.

Thanks for the confirmation on the lines, only other thing I can think of is a defective valve. I have a "case" open on this with pfister support, they requested a picture of the valve. Tried sending but dont believe it went through, after several attempts. Will try again. Appreciate the input.

Problem was the valve. Contacted Pfister by phone and new hot valve on the way, no charge.
