anyone heard of or used 'copper lock' ?

i was at a cookout yesterday and a young guy told me he was an apprentice plumber. we got talking about plumbing and he showed me pictures on his phone of work he had done. he installed copper tube and copper fittings with 'copper lock' i've never seen nor heard of this before. it's a red epoxy that cures in 15 minutes. just put a thin coat on male and female surfaces, give it a 1/4 turn and you're done.

i can't believe it...

Author: steve (CA) Copper Lock or products like that has been around for at least 25 years. I've never used it and haven't heard anything, good or bad, about it.

It looks like it would be pricey for a plumber to use on a large scale compared to soldering. Although, I remember you saying a while back Packy that the strict code in MA requires that a plumber have the FD come in and do a fire watch when there is soldering work? In that case anything else would be cheaper than soldering....

Author: packy (MA) AND... i've been told in boston a permit for 'hot work' costs 125 dollars plus the cost of the FD sending someone to stand as a 'fire watch'.. so everything is pressed or joined with epoxy.
