Neither of my torque wrenches go down to 5 ft-lb, so I bought a dedicated device with a 5/16 socket and a t-handle. I don't have a good sense of what 5 lbs would feel like, but it feels too hard to me; I am getting old and weak though.

The rubber sleeve squeezes out of both ends equally, so the steel band isn't off-center. Should it squeeze out? Is there a way to test the wrench? I'm using authentic Fernco p3000-22 and p3000-15s, not the Proflex.

The clamp tightens to 60 inch pounds.
how it looks depends on the OD of what you are fitting.
also if there is a slight difference between the fittings/pipe being joined it will look different.

60 inch pounds = 5 foot pounds


the rubber is SOFT so that it 'bites' into cast iron pipe

I have the T-handle wrenches that does 60# and 80#. The 80# is for heavy duty couplings with 4 bands and the nuts are larger.

Do you want to see pics of what the rubber bands look like when torqued to 60#? The ones I have done so far, and that's limited to cast iron and PVC only, does not have the "squeezed in" look.
