Need 11-inch center, three handle tub/shower valve
Author: cakins (MO)

It's been a long time since I've been on here, but the advice I've received in the past has always been super helpful. smile

I need to help my dad replace an old 11-inch center tub valve that currently has no shower. It's 3-handle (hot, cold, drain control). We replaced a similar valve in his upstairs bath maybe 3 years ago with a 2-handle Kohler valve, but could not add a shower due to low ceiling, so we just left the middle handle alone as the drain control.

For his downstairs bath, though, he needs to add a shower, but I'm not seeing anything on Kohler's website of a 3-handle valve that is 11-inch center, only 8-inch. I could even use individual valves if such a thing exists and connect them with PEX if their outlets would allow threaded fittings to adapt.

The only reason I'm leaning toward Kohler is because I just replaced his lavatory faucet in the same bathroom with a Kohler brand faucet which he purchased a good number of years ago. If we could find a Kohler bath/shower valve, then perhaps they would have matching handles. But we're open to whatever might be out there to solve our issue.

This is needed for a historic house to try and replace a non-shower, 3-handle system (hot, cold, drain) while adding a shower. We don't want to disturb or have to drill the original tile. I have access behind the plumbing wall in a closet.

Thanks for the advice in advance.

According to the Ebay seller's photos, that is also an 8-inch center. Strange that it's all polished like that since it will largely be in the wall.

If I COULD find something like this - which I've failed to do so far - if it's an obscure or non-branded item, how would one go about finding handles for them? Are handle's universal? I didn't think so.

That's why I come here - I learn about things of which I've never heard! That's a new brand to me. Are they quality? I like that they are US made. Not inexpensive, but working on historic houses rarely is. smile

Reviews on Yelp aren't too encouraging on the Phylrich brand. 1.8 stars. Anyone here actually used their products?
