All commercial sink pre-rinse units, Chicago, T&S, etc. will have check valves.

.... since the hose will allow the water outlet to be lower than the flood level rim of the fixture a backflow prevention device is REQUIRED BY CODE else the fixture will NOT be 'approved' ....

Most prerinse devices have a shorter hose with a spring mount to keep it above the water level.

That is true WHILE THE SPRAYER IN "ON THE HOOK", but, it is often used OFF the hook allowing it to be pulled down in which case ............
