Author: packy (MA) anytime a fast discharging fixture such as a washing machine empties into a drain such as a shower, you run the risk of some waste water backing up into the floor level opening in the shower.

Author: Lorensr (CA) Also I think the UPC code says you should not vent fixtures with a trap above the slab with a fixture below the slab. Someone will correct me if not true.

Author: packy (MA) if thats true it would make it illegal to wet vent a tub or shower thru the lav? all i can speak for is mass. it is legal here. even if it is legal i would not drain a washing machine into a shower drain. you are asking for a foot bath every time the WM discharges.
