Hello - I'm a pretty avid DIYer completing a complete bathroom remodel here, but this one is odd to me. I have just installed new angle stops and braided supply lines. Upon turning the valves on I got a spray between the 3/8" compression fitting and the valve. It is as thought the compression nut has bottomed out on the valve before the internals have made a seal. I am not using any tape or dope and the fitting is very tight. Probably tighter than typical. Has anyone had this happen or am I missing something that is going to probably embarrass me? you are most likely missing the (black) rubber cone type washers from/integral to the 'braided' supplies

IF not the case of what bernabeu logically suspects (I'm with him and suspect the same) THEN possibly you've done what a lot of DIYers do which is to first wrap a lot of PTFE (teflon) tape around the male threads.

If that is the case then simply take all of the tape off as that's absolutely not needed and in so many cases we've seen that the tape can prevent a tight connection of the washer.

Please tell us the results.

Thanks for the replies guys. I can confirm that there was no washer or center section on the 3/8" connection. It was just a brass cone. Was this line mis-manufactured or is there a different type of fitting that I am not familiar with. Thanks again. BTW - I swapped the lines and am in perfect shape now.
