Toilet knocking/vibrating before flush

Why would my toilet make a single knocking or thud noise and toilet vibrate shortly after sitting on it? We have a new house, less than a year old. I have noticed this happening twice (months apart) on the first floor and once on the second floor. Not sure if this has happened outside of these occurrences or other toilets. Just have not experienced. Note these toilets were not used for hours before this. My husband did use another toilet on same floor a few minutes before this occurred on most recent instance.
