i really need some help...i have a kohler clearpass drain system in my bathtub...it is the one with the lift rod (not chain)and drain crank...there is no stopper or drain post attached to end of lift rod...it was like this when i purchased the house and i was able to remove the overflow hood and reattach the drain crank to the lever, allowing the tub to drain but i couldn't touch the handle or tub would drain slowly...a visitor hit the handle and this time i cannot get it "rigged" to drain...i know the system is discontinued, and i have found the parts diagram but what i cannot find is how this system works...where is the mechanism allowing the water to release...the lift rod appears to just dangle inside the drain pipe between the overflow tube and the drain tube...the diagram does not show any additional parts that would control that...i intend on replacing the system when i install a new tub but for now i would love to know what, if anything, i can remove to allow water to drain...any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

the lift rod has a spring on the bottom (see berns picture)
the spring pushes down on a flat brass rocker arm.
the arm lifts or lowers the drain stopper.
these drains are a quality item but can be a PITA to adjust for someone inexperienced.
