Hello everyone!

I'm installing a new faucet for my bathroom sink. The only thing holding me up are the nuts that attach the supply lines to the shutoff valves. They're stuck and I'm afraid to apply too much pressure as I don't want a catastrophe. I did spray liberally with WD-40, twice. I also cut the lines to gain better access to the nuts as I'm replacing the lines anyway. I know to turn them CCW. They're just not budging!

use a second wrench as a holdback for the valve.
i can't tell you how many 3/8 compression nuts i have taken apart over the yeaRS. I have never broken one..

If your really paranoid about breaking something just turn off the water to the entire house
Looks like copper stub outs they should not break
If they are cpvc stub outs I’d be more careful

I assume you are trying to remove the 3/8 nut of the old supply and not the 1/2 of the shutoff valve?

I would turn water off to the house, rotate the oval handle so it's not in the way, one wrench on the valve to hold it steady and a wrench on the small nut to turn. Use an adjustable wrench and not a pliers so as to not pinch on the nut that you are holding or turning. Worse case scenario you replace the valve. Whoever installed that valve used some sort of sealant/dope/putty on the threads, it's not needed because it's a compression seal. They might have done the same on the 3/8 end. Hopefully it's just a sealant and not some sort of epoxy.

the wrench that fits that 3/8 nut is a 5/8 inch open end.
