I am a small general contractor in a very rural part of Kansas and have been getting more request for plumbing repairs/ installations. I am not a plumber by trade, but do not want to do plumbing incorrectly, there are already to many wanna-bee's here. I take pride in what I do and want things to be right. I am curious what publication I could buy that would help me learn this trade. I will not be doing any boiler work, to be clear! This will be mostly residential work. As I learn and do, I grow a much grander appreciation for what you in the trade do daily!

someone call you to fix a dripping faucet.
you plan to have a book in the truck "faucet repar for dummies".
i'm not making fun of you but repair plumbing is just not that simple.
you either need to have a well stocked truck or you need a parts store nearby that hopefully has what you need.

Being able to do as much as we can ourselves is what we are working towards. Where we live there are less than 10k people in a 30 mile radius and only 2 plumbers servicing those areas. Having a plumber available in a timely manner doesn't always work. We do use our local plumber as a supply house and have worked with him on a few jobs. I'm simply wanting to learn more to make sure we are better at what we do and not at just replacing a faucet/ valve.
