Hi,

We recently moved to our newly purchased house which is a 37-year old house. I was wondering if anyone can help me figure out what the drain cover is for our master bathroom shower. I can tell that the existing drain cover is not the original as it is very loose and bigger than the drain hole. I have five covers so far and they don't fit. I tried Danco 4 1/4, Moen 4 in, Oatey 3 1/4 Crown Ring, Everbilt 3-3/8 in, and Lasco 3 1/2.

I have seen this page many times, even begore you shared it, and still could not figure it out.

You have a 1-1/2" piped drain which is NOT code compliant today.

A plumber local to and familiar with your specific area may be able to 'scrounge' the necessary part,

else

you need a 3" OD cover with 'matching' C-C screw holes.


You can not use an oversized 'snap-in' type because of the shallow depth and the small piping.


You can try the following which is oversized but will sit relatively flat ON TOP OF the existing drain (IF the mounting holes match up, which I believe they will):

The 4 1/4 size did not work. The screw hole distance is too short in the middle and did not align.

the sioux chief may have different c-c then the danco

there is NO standardization


YOU need to measure the c-c of what you HAVE in the shower and find a 'cover' with the same c-c of the mounting screws regardless of the od of the 'plate'
