The hot water started to leak heavily from an old shower tub faucet. Don't know the brand and model of the unit. First tried to replace the springs and seats, as well as the cartridge [www.amazon.com], but did not fix it. Now I am guessing I need to replace the pressure balancing unit. However, I could not figure out how to remove the old one. Please see the pictures at [drive.google.com].

Have you tried pulling it straight out with needle nose pliers? |

Yes, I did. But to be honest, I did not try it very hard. The metal ring is in the way to block it. |
