Somebody came and hit our fire hydrant. Led to flooding which the city came and stopped. Lots of water went under the house, it’s a pier & beam foundation
City said there was a leak detected so we had a plumber come look for leaks underneath the house. Only signs of a toilet leak that will be getting repaired, but the plumber believes the meter will still be running even if the toilet is fixed because they turned off all the water valves within the house and the meter was still going up
I spoke to the city again and they said there’s a possible leak between the water meter and the house itself. How difficult is it to find leaks like this? Also, would the flooding not be the reason for this leak? The city is saying the leak was detected weeks after the flooding was reported so with the time gap the two are unrelated even with the amount of water that went under the house, they’re saying it’s ultimately our responsibility
