Plumbing company Installed a new electric hot water heater in my house. Running the water the first time I noted a solvent like smell coming from the hot water side only. It felt sticky/oily/tacky until my hands dried. Holding my dried hands close to my face it smelled dirty and caused eye irritation. I ran the faucets like crazy to flush out the chemical odor. Plumbing company drained tank. Nothing helped. Cold water is fine. Been a month and no usable hot water. Installer did sweat in a new shut off valve on the supply side so yes flux was used. And he used pipe dope on the threading of the water heater. Which dripped all over the top of the heater. If pipe dope dripped into the tank would it cause this situation? Thank you.

By any chance did they use flexible connections off the new water heater

I’ve never had flux or pipe dope cause any problems after bleeding the lines after work is complete
