A plumber came to snake my bathtub drain. I don't know what he did, but he somehow dropped/pushed the plunger into the pipe. I've read that it is possible to hook it and pull it out. But my question is can it fall below the tube and into the pipe? Wouldn't there be a "stopper" to stop it from falling if somehow the linkage was broken?
Any help appreciated. I am feeling frustrated and they won't take responsibility.

Correct, the plunger will stop above the tip of your arrow.

it can not fit thru the tee.
should be able to get it with a metal coathanger with a small hook bent at the end.

Thank you!
I can't believe the licensed plumber I hired saw it drop and left it there. Then wants to charge me $3500 to get it out.

do it yourself.
the plunger is hollow and there is a small bar across the top that the linkage attaches to.
a little fooling around and a little luck and the wire hook will grab it.

If the plunger cannot be easily retrieved, you may need to consider other options, such as removing the drain pipe or using a drain camera to locate and retrieve the plunger.
