lost instant hot water to 2 sinks suddenly--what is this part?
Author: sfjazzman (CA)

Newbie here with first question...please be kind and patient smiling smiley

Both my kitchen and bathroom sinks (on different floors) have always provided fairly instant (seconds) hot water until suddenly.

I searched my sinks and down in the basement where the boiler is and the image attached here is the only thing I can guess it is... my questions are:

Is this what is providing the instant hot water? If so, I believe it is dead.
Can I do this myself?
What is it called!? smiling smiley

Any help is much appreciated.

It is a 'circulator pump'.

It is part of a hot water recirculation SYSTEM which includes a check valve.

Based upon the nature of your question you probably require a plumber.

that is most likely the problem.

if the mechanical part can be separated from the body then it is a simple job.
i'm not familiar with that brand.

if you are lucky then you simply buy a new pump (exact same model and size) and swap the housing assembly.
