Different plumbing code for hospitals?
Author: ArthurPeabody (NM) I was in hospital last week. The tiny bathroom in my room had the sink directly in front of the toilet, separated by 10 inches, which was convenient to rest my head on while I waited and allowed me to barf without getting off the toilet. It also made it easy to get water and soap to wash my backside. Why could they have it so close? Edited 1 times.

Author: Don411 (IN) Last time I checked, code requires 15" from the centerline of the toilet to the side walls, and at least 15" in front of the toilet for sinks, etc. I would be surprised if it was really 10" in your hospital room, it may have just felt like it....

Author: ArthurPeabody (NM) I measured it. The distance to the sides is okay. UPC requires 24 inches in front; IPC requires 21. I could sit on the toilet and throw up in the sink. I'm only 5'9".
