Hey guys,

Found out the long pipe is literally hanging on by a few rusty threads. I need to replace it and the rest and the valves on it. With that said... What the hell is all this other @#$%& connected to the pipe? What's it for? Why the PVC from the ground? Whats it about? I tried closing those levers and they don't seem to turn off any water flow leading out the length of pipe. The only thing that turns it off is the last valve in the sequence that connects to the length of pipe and that's it.

Any recommendations?

Author: steve (CA) That is a vacuum pressure breaker. The vacuum breaker is protecting your water supply from getting contaminated by siphoning from wherever the pvc pipe is going to. The 2 cross handles are used to test the breaker and are currently shutting off the water supply to the pvc pipe. [pdf.lowes.com] Edited 1 times.
