Waterproof Seal Between Copper and Outdoor Concrete Basin
Author: JRandyP (PA)

We are trying to create a waterproof seal between a 4” copper gutter and a concrete catch basin. This is part of a water feature in our back yard. The basin is notched to allow the copper gutter to sit in the notch. Water flows out of the basin, down the copper gutter, and on to a lower pond.

We want the right bonding/adhesive material to prevent water leaking out between the basin and the gutter. The previous bonding material (not sure what) has dried out and is now longer preventing leaking.

Thank you!

The joint is not under pressure, so clean the concrete and copper really well (wire brush on a drill, wear safety glasses) then clear GE Silicone rated for windows and doors will last a good long time.
