 How does this spigot leak?
Author: ArthurPeabody (NM)

I washed clothes with hot water for the first time since I re-plumbed. I found a small puddle on the floor beneath the hot water supply line afterwards, about 2 ounces. I found a drip on the side of the PEX, traced it all the way up to the threads of the spigot, which were wet. It's dry in the outlet box.

It doesn't leak when I'm not washing clothes with hot water, so it would seem the leak has to be in the spigot. I took off the hot water hose, turned on the hot water, and water leaks slowly out of the mouth of the spigot.

I bought it from Lowe's as an Eastman 60251 - [www.lowes.com] . A label on it identifies it as Part # 60248 from EZ-FLO.

I couldn't find a threaded adaptor to PEX. A guy at the supply house (Bob Garrecht) recommended I solder on an adaptor, which I did. Could that have damaged it? I did the same on the cold, which doesn't leak.

thats strange because the threaded inlet to the valve has full pressure to it all the time... 24/7..

It's a mystery to me, why I asked here. I wrapped a cotton cloth around the threads, how I look for the faintest leaks, and it's as dry as a bone.

Maybe the spigot didn't leak. Does the problem repeat with every wash cycle? Here's a variation on your cotton threads test: wrap a couple of strips of dry toilet paper around the washing machine, high and low. If there's a leak, the water trails on the toilet paper will point in its general direction.
