I had a blockage in the house sewer line causing the drain in the basement to back up. I thought it was the septic tank since it hasn't been cleaned in 20 years. Septic tank was clear, blockage somewhere in the house sewer drain. The drain in the basement now handles only a light flow of water to pass, so I assume I have a partial blockage remaining. To add some confusion, when I run water in the basement bathroom sink I get air bubbles in the adjacent toilet and the bathtub gurgles. I flushed the toilet and it flushed fine, but the toilet bowl mysteriously overfilled I then removed the OATEY sure-vent air admittance valve and the water in the toilet bowl went back to a normal level. I don't understand where that water could have come from. The sure-vent valve is a Sure-Vent II. I have been unable to find a replacement Sure-Vent II. Can only find Sure-Vent. Does it matter?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Author: packy (MA) i'm betting on a partial stoppage somewhere. remember the sure-vent only lets air in.

Author: Lorensr (CA) Try pouring a full 5-gallon bucket of water in an upstairs toilet as fast as it can take it. That may break up the stoppage
