I am building a house and the builder is now MIA. We have a water pipe running from our well to the house in a trench. We want to fill the trench back up with dirt but was told by a neighbor that we need to cover the line firsW. What do I cover it with?

Well, I would use dirt, but depending on the pipe's material, you many need sand or some other soft material.

If you are in the jurisdiction of a town or municipality check to see if you need any inspections prior to filling in the trench.
