Preferrence on gas and brass fittings with sealant

So I'm about to start building my lines for my outdoor kitchen. I've seen so many different opinions, my head is spinning (including those from the trade leaders).

So, I ask: I've got some brass fittings (not flare) but NPT tapered fittings that I need to assemble. I have both yellow dope and yellow tape. I'm inclined to just use the dope, but then I see opinions out there saying only tape and others saying both.

What is the consensus here? Thanks for the help.

Author: george 7941 (Canada) I usually use dope only but if a fitting has to be indexed (facing a certain way), adding tape to the dope sometimes helps.

Author: bsipps (PA) This debate will never end peacefully If both ends to be connected are metal I use both tape and dope, they also sell dope with teflon mixed in

Author: SinatraFan (FL) LOL, seems more of the same here! I went with dope only. assembled my manifolds and fittings. Once I get the wall painted, I'll mount them and start running L copper tubing and then get it ready for pressure test. [imgur.com] Edited 1 times.
