Phister Shower Valve Handle
Author: george 7941 I need to remove the handle. Before I apply force and possibly break or scratch something, thought I would ask. Do I remove the handle by first removing the white disc? Can the disc be pried off or does it unscrew? Edited 1 times.

Tried and was unable to unscrew the disk. I heated up the handle with a heat gun, sprayed Liquid Wrench and it still would not move.
Pic shows the two pliers I used. The padded jaws gripped the handle securely and the other pliers, held perpendicular to the disk, got a decent grip on the edge of the disk.
Once previously when I encountered a similar situation, I ended up drilling two small holes at opposite ends of the disk and using a large strong pair of snap ring pliers in the holes to turn the disk.
