 Shorten dishwasher drain line?
Author: Tom the Elder (CA)

The drain line from my dishwasher is long enough to be in the way. Is there a way to shorten it by cutting a section out of the middle? My back is in a condition that would likely hurt myself if I try to disconnect it from the air gap above the sink. Thanks.

Try pushing the hose through the hole in the cabinet back toward the dishwasher

exactly.. just push the excess back under the dishwasher.

if for some reason it won't push back, just make a loop like the stainless line and attach it to the back wall.

No, that drain line cannot be cut in the middle. There is no fitting available that will mate with a cut end.

The dishwasher installation manuals always include the caution - do not cut the drain hose in the ribbed section.
