 Ejector Pit Vent
Author: RumChris (IL)

I have a basement bar sink which drains into an ejector pump box. How far can I run the vent pipe horizontally before tying into a vent on the other side of the basement? I don’t have any other vents avail for tie in and it’s a 2 story house. I know I cannot use an AAV on an ejector pump. Assuming I cannot vent out the side of the house either. Thanks!

There's not really a single answer to this question but assuming 1 1/2 vent not more than 20 feet. No limit on the pump discharge though so maybe you can move that closer to the vent if necessary. Illinois plumbing code is available online. Sorry I can't paste the link, just Google it.

Thanks unfortunately I cannot move the sink. Trying to correct a previous install with a AAV but the only vent I have is probably 40 ft away.

If the vent 40' away is 2" simply run 2" horizontal and then 2 X 1-1/2 'drop' to the sink

Thank you. Upon further inspection the existing vent I hoped to tie into is only 1 1/2”. Ugh!

cheat - it will all work fine 1-1/2 - much much better than an AAV

maintain slight downward pitch downhill to sink so no condensate pocket can form inside vent

The would need a reverse acting AAV for a pump pit, which would create other problems.
